5Gwireless Training Activities

4th 5Gwireless Training Event

 Overview

The 4th 5Gwireless training event encompasses 3 Schools:

  • School 4: Interference awareness and energy efficiency of 5G networks

It will be focused on two fundamental and highlycoupled topics for 5G: interference awareness and energy efficiency. The seminar will provide an overview of solutions currently under consideration by academia, industry and standardization bodies for enabling these capabilities in 5G.

  • School 5: Testbeds and real-life experiments for 5G networks

It will provide an up-to-date survey of experimental activities conducted in the broad area of 5G. Existing testbeds and field trials related to, e.g., large-scale MIMO, single-RF MIMO, mmWave communications will be introduced to the ESRs in a critical manner by discussing implementation assumptions and elaborating on differences between “paper world” analysis and “real world” implementation.

  • School 6: 5G wireless access and backhaul: A holistic view

While Schools 1-5 are focused on specific instances for enabling 5G networks, School 6 will introduce architectural and network-wide requirements by discussing backhauling and wireless access requirements, including latency, side information acquisition, complexity, throughput, energy efficiency, etc. This school will also provide a 5G operator-view focused on end-user needs and expectations.

3rd 5Gwireless Training Event

 Overview

The 3rd 5Gwireless training event encompasses 3 Complementary Courses:

  • Course 3: Standardization. This course will provide training on standardization in general and in future 5G systems in particular. It will focus on standardization bodies and will present what can be standardized and the process of bringing ideas to standardization.

  • Course 4: EC funding and project management. The objective will be: 1) a comprehensive description of EC funding opportunities and guidelines for writing successful proposals with focus on Horizon 2020 and 2) a presentation of basic/advanced material on project management, planning, reporting, quality assurance, risk analysis & contingency plans, deadlines/milestones, audits etc.

  • Course 5: Entrepreneurship, market exploitation and business plan. It will introduce entrepreneurship and key aspects on how to develop a business plan, how to set up an innovative startup, concepts of lean startups, agile new product development, how to promote ideas, how to get access to funding, incubators and other investors.
